Clever scientists in Seniors!

We have had an amazing Science week in Senior Infants! We enjoyed learning how oil and water seperate, during our 'lava lamps' experiment. Dissolving and absorption were key words during our 'skittles' experiment and capillary action was fun to watch throughout our 'walking water' activity. The children explored predictions and using results to reach a conclusion for each experiment.
To cap the week off we got to listen to Mr O Leary's class explain how they made their 'egg parachutes' and finally watched them check the success of their creations!

Spooky Seniors!

Senior Infants enjoyed some Halloween favourites on our last day of the Autumn term - arts and crafts, apple bobbing, enjoying some báirín breac, searching for wiggly worms in the slime as well as digging out creepy crawlies in the sensory rice!  Such wonderful effort went into everyone's costumes!

Well done to all the adults at home who helped the children dress up for the day. 😊

October

Another busy month for Senior Infants! We have been learning about how shadows are created and took advantage of the lovely sunshine to create our own shadows by blocking the light from the sun.
We also had a jam-packed Maths Week where we took the opportunity to do some maths work on the i-pads. The children explored some activities and had fun challenging each other in various tasks. Some shape monsters were created using 2d shapes and we practiced using lots of maths vocabulary.

The month couldn't go by without creating some very imaginative Halloween masks! Happy Halloween everyone :)
