An turas scoile!

This week the children got to visit Ireland's largest native species aquarium in Salthill! The greatly anticipated school tour was a huge success. The children got to travel in a double-decker bus, had a guided tour of the aquarium and finally enjoyed some time in Monkey Business - such a special day for all the infants and 1st class.

Life cycle of a butterfly

The children were fascinated this term with our very own batch of butterfly eggs growing and changing in front of our very eyes! Each day we discussed the changes we could see as the eggs grew from caterpillars, transformed into their chrysalides and then after another 11 days emerge as beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. The excitement when we released them into the wild was immense!

Coding in the classroom

This week the children had their first experience of using Bee-Bots. These exciting, floor robots are designed specifically for use by younger children to introduce them to the world of coding. They are colourful and very child friendly which make them the perfect tool for the children to enjoy their learning. We then progressed to coding on our Ipads using the Bee-bot app. We had lots of fun problem solving whilst also learning the art of patience!
